Iron and Zinc Bio-fortification through Agronomic Intervention in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Essential micronutrients are required for humans to sustain proper physiological body processes and a healthy health condition. Micronutrient deficiencies, such as iron, zinc, iodine, create global concerns people. Zinc iron deficiency frequent in chickpea growing regions across the world. Bio-fortification of pulse grains, especially with Fe Zn by agronomic bio-fortification, is simplest, most practical, quickest method. During Rabi season 2019–20, field experiment was done at Bairiya Dhab Research Farm Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar, India, find out effect on genotypes when were added soil leaves. Two (GCP-105 GNG-2264) seven fertilization treatments (control, 0.5% Zn, Fe, application 25 15 kg/ha, respectively) used split plot design three replications. The GNG-2264 variety had significantly higher plant height, yield characteristics, number pods per plant, test weight, seed straw economics viz. gross return, net return (62860 37986 ₹/ha), B: C ratio (2.52) than GCP-105. Among treatments, RDF + (0.5%) foliar spraying pre-flowering pod development stage recorded growth parameters viz., height (59.89 cm), pods/plant (22.31), (1283 kg/ha) yields 2433 kg/ha), quality zinc content (31.84 17.40 ppm) (72.26, 21.79 ppm, term ratio.
